EAL Classes

[Our EAL class is currently full. Please stay tuned for future openings]

Waverley Church now offers free English instruction for adults whose first language is not English. Students learn about grammar, pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, and listening and reading. The class uses a simple translation of the Bible and Christian music as well as other useful materials. Students receive individual attention from volunteers. Students and volunteers discuss the lesson materials and topics such as life in Winnipeg.

In the fall, winter and spring, we have class on Saturday mornings from 10:00 AM to noon. We may also offer instruction during the summer, depending on the availability of volunteers and students. (1/10/2025) - EAL winter classes begin on Saturday, Jan 11, and end on March 22. We meet every Saturday at 10am-12pm. There will be no class on Feb 15.

Also please note that students must be at least 18 years of age and that no child care is available. Students with children must make arrangements for child care elsewhere.
