What to Expect

Visiting a new church can be intimidating: What should I wear? Where do I park? Where do my kids go?

We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church, so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit. Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

When are services?

Services are held every week on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am.

What are the services like?

Our services are contemporary and strive to be relevant to todays culture. A usual service begins with some contemporary songs (guitars, drums, piano), a message from the pastor, and a closing song. We usually teach in series of 3-5 week messages pertaining to a specific topic. To check out and listen to any of our previous and current series, click here. Services typically last 65-70 minutes. You will be greeted at the doors and once you make your way into the auditorium, you may sit wherever you wish to. Our average attendance is 220 adults and 70 children each week.

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you're joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you're wearing. In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others prefer to still put on their "Sunday best," and that's fine too! We think you'll fit in no matter how you dress.

Where should I park?

Waverley Church usually has sufficient space in its parking lot, which is located at the front and around the side of the building. We do have Guest parking available at the front of the building (off to the right of the main entrance). You may also park in any available spot; with the exception of Handicap stalls located close to the entrance. If the parking lot is full, there is extra parking available on Cadboro Rd (the gravel road adjacent to the front parking lot). If parking on Cadboro Rd, please make sure to park on the side furthest from the church (cars facing West). Our main entrance is located at the front of the church (facing Cadboro Rd). If you park around the side of the building, there is an entrance that can be used as well.

Where do my children go?

Our Waverley Kids ministry is the perfect place for your children, infant through sixth grade to go while you attend service. An infant care room is available through the back doors beside the Women’s washroom. Crawler (6-18 months) and Toddler (1½-3½ years) care is available throughout the service (through the back doors of the auditorium). Preschool (3½-5 years) and Grade K-6 go directly to a teacher-lead environment before the service starts. If you would like your children to go to Waverley Kids, take your children directly to the appropriate room in the Kids area, or visit the Information Centre in the lobby for direction and instructions. Your children will be checked in, and you will receive an ID number which you will need in order to pick up your child. There is a digital signboard in the auditorium that will display the two-digit ID number for a child if they need a parent to come take care of the child. For more information about our Waverley Kids program, please click here. To view a map of our facility, click here.

NOTE: Parents of all children, please remember to go immediately following service to pick up your children. We will not release any child under any circumstance without a guardian to pick them up.

Do you offer Adult Sunday School?

We have opportunities for fellowship, prayer, serving and Bible study with others at Waverley Church in our Small Groups that meet throughout the week. We feel that Small Groups are a great way to connect with other believers and to grow spiritually. At Waverley Church, you will find a wide variety of groups for men, women, couples, singles and parents. For more information on Small Groups click here.

Am I expected to put money in the offering?

If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money in the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider Waverley your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving to Waverley Church. You can give by cheque or cash during the service, or you can set-up pre-authorized debit for automatically scheduled withdrawals (see Information Centre for more information or to sign up).
