Love - The Winning Attitude
By: Brad Quiring on July 16, 2012
One of the shortest books in the Bible is the second letter from John, known by the obvious title of "Second John". It is located right near the end of the Bible.
If you read the opening lines, you would think it was a letter from John to his wife and kids, but in the style of the middle eastern greek John was just addressing the Christians in a congregation in a certain area. We don't know exactly who they were or where they were, but they were Christians. The message John wanted those believers in Jesus to hear is something we need to hear, too.
Paul wrote this letter with two items on the agenda. One was a lesson on love and the other was a warning about those who were against Christians.
This post will just focus on the first lesson: the winning attitude of Love. The key verse to look at is 2 John 6: "And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love."
"Walk in Love" - Obeying God isn't about keeping the list of rules - it is about loving God and others. If you really say you really want to do what God wants, you have to love.
Walking in love means this love is continuous. It moves forward. It doesn't drag anyone down or push ahead of anyone. Walking in love means that it is part of every aspect of your life.
When we truly "walk in love" everyone wins. We bless others and help others because we love them. We meet people's needs because we love them. We work on our relationships and bring peace and harmony out of love and concern for others.
Everyone wins with True Love.
