Family - at Home

By: Admin on August 15, 2012

I just wrapped up 2 weeks of holiday time. It was a good time. Part of it spent in the sun on the beach, part of it hanging out at a hotel and visiting different stores. Part of it spent doing some odd jobs here and there in the house.

Even with the visiting different places, I was still home. I was still with my family. Even when I wasn't in my house with all my "family".

I spent time on the beach with friends from Edmonton, who we have known since college days. It seemed like we had not missed one day, even though the last time we were all together was years ago. There was a friend I haven't seen for nearly 20 years. I picked him up at the airport and had the morning with him. Like nothing had changed, even though our lives have taken some fairly wild twists and turns. Family - at home.

With my own family: it was special to have alone time with each one. It was special to enjoy time all together. As we each have our own lives now, it seems like we aren't always together all the time. But when we are all together it is fun, goofy, easy and good. Family - at home.

Now I've returned to work. I missed it...sort of, I enjoy holidays. But I was rested and refreshed and happy to be back when I hit the office. The best part: the team I work with. Family - at home.

This is what the Bible says about God's family, the people who believe in Jesus:

10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. 12 He says,

“I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises.” (Hebrews 2:10-12)

The most important family in the world is God's family. Are you part of it, so you can be "home" with "family" wherever you are?
